Evelyn Luna Phifer, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at NHC-Lewisburg. Evelyn was born on August 20, 1925 to Leroy and Gladys Thompson Luna in Marshall County, TN. She was a longtime resident of the Milltown Community with her husband Bennie.

They owned and operated Mid-State Upholstery until Mr. Phifer’s death in 1984. Ms. Phifer was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved quilting, crossword puzzles, and you never found her home without a pot of coffee brewing.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Gladys Luna; her husband Bennie A. Phifer; daughters Nancy Phifer, Emily Carpenter, and Benita Mangrum; a great-granddaughter, Toni M. Hunter, a great-grandson, Thomas Ross Pruit, III; two sisters and a brother. She is survived by a daughter Edna (Dooney) Thomas; sister Dorlene Sargeant both of Lewisburg, TN; seven grandchildren, Susan (Dave) Hunter, Bill (Lisa) Thomas, Traci (Todd) Houghton, Eric Jones, Ashley (Scott) Deuermeyer, Rhonda (Robert) Himes, and Bryan Mangrum; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held with the family from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in the chapel of Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, July 19, 2018 in the Berea Cemetery (Verona Community) with Linda Price officiating. Notes of condolences may be sent to www. billsmcgaugh.com.
