Everett Dowling Smith, a resident of Jacksonville, Texas, passed May 30, 2018 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas. He was 92 years old. Everett was born on February 13, 1926 in Jacksonville, Texas to William Marcus and Lydia Smith.

He entered the U.S. Navy on May 24, 1944. Everett married Willie Ruth Henderson July 30, 1945 and they were married for 60 years. He worked at S.K. Everett is survived by a son,… Read More » Raymond Wayne Smith and wife, Joyce; granddaughter, Laurie Lynn Poteet; grandson, Cody Wade Poteet; granddaughter, Channie Goodman and husband Nicky, and great-great-grandson, Gannon Wade; brothers, Richard and James Lloyd Smith and wife Becky; sisters, Sadie Palmer, Lydia Upchurch and husband Bill, and Ann Peavy and husband Bill; many nephews and nieces.

Everett was preceded in death by wife, Willie Ruth Smith; father, William Marcus Smith; mother, Lydia Cowan Smith; brothers, John and Truman; sisters, Margie West and Dora Tate. Serving as pallbearers are Tim Tipton, Cody Poteet, Nicky Goodman, Steven Riggins, Brandon Ganske, and Brent Poteet. Visitation will be at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Texas.

Visitation is scheduled on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services will be held at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville, Texas, on June 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Resthaven Cemetery in Jacksonville.
