Linda Simmons was born in the Brushy Creek community of Anderson County on March 10, 1947. She went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 24, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, JC and Dolly Jonas and her husband of 35 years, Gene Simmons.

She was a graduate of Tyler School of Business and worked as a secretary at Newburn Hospital and Jacksonville ISD. She retired from JISD as a first-grade aide. She loved working with students and was a blessing to her fellow… Read More » employees.

She worked alongside her husband in many of his job endeavors. Friendship Baptist Church and the Corine Community were very dear to her heart. She had been a member of the church most all of her life and had been involved in all church activities.

She counted the church members, past and present as her family. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Richie and Kim Simmons and Greg and Cindy Allen and precious grandsons, Kyle and Colton Allen. Growing up as an only child, her many cousins and their children were very special to her.

She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Gloria Bolton and her children. Services will be held 10 o’clock in the morning Friday, September, 28, 2018 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Burial will follow at Corine Cemetery.

Bro. Larry Smith and Bro. Leon Ross will officiate.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, September 27, 2018 and friends are cordially invited to visit with Linda’s family from 6 to 8 o’clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Pallbearers will be Kyle Allen, Colton Allen, Mike Terry, Brad Stewart, Jason Stewart, and Jim Stewart. Honorary pallbearers are Dale Stewart, Greg Main, Lewie Lake, James Walker, Robert Setliff, Leland LeBlanc, and Bill Willis.

Rather than customary condolences, the family ask that donations be made to Friendship Baptist Church, in care of Lewie Lake, 740 CR 3301, Jacksonville, TX 75766. Her family would like to thank the staff and therapist at Senior Care Nursing Home for the care they gave Mrs. Simmons.
