Ezequiel was born February 9, 1944 in Harlingen, Texas to Ezequiel, Sr. & Amelia Viana Mercado. Ezequiel proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

He is preceded in death by both his parents, and eight of his siblings. Ezequiel is survived by his loving family to cherish his wonderful memory, his beloved wife of 42 years, Irma C. Mercado; children, Ezequiel Mercado III (Maria Luisa), Marco Antonio Mercado, Amy Mercado, & Tomas Mercado; 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; and numerous nieces & nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the prayer of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Funeral Chapel.

A funeral mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Interment will follow to Rio Grande Valley State Veteran’s Cemetery in Mission. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Ezequiel Mercado III, Ezequiel Mercado IV, Tomas Mercado, Marco Antonio Mercado, Marco Antonio Mercado Jr., & Pablo Lopez Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jiraiya J. Mercado & Sergio Costilla.
