Rafael (Ralph)’s Obituary Rafael (Ralph) Ruiz Escobedo, 74 of Harlingen, TX, entered eternal rest on Friday, January 18, 2019. He was born on January 28, 1944 in Harlingen, TX to the late Irene and Geronimo Escobedo. He is preceded in death by his son, Justin Ralph Escobedo; his siblings: Geronimo Escobedo, Jr; Fidela Gorena; Abel Escobedo; Isabella Galvan; Sarah Salinas; Ester Salinas; Pedro Escobedo; Juan Escobedo; Santiago Escobedo; and Moises Escobedo.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Blanca Hernandez-Escobedo; his daughters: Rachel Escobedo; Wanda Aileen Tello; Stacie Irene (Josh) Ramirez; Brandi Iris (Luis) Vasquez; Lena Nicole Escobedo; and Megan Coleen (Joshua) Boyd; as well as his step-children: Daniel Ray Hernandez; Julia Renee (Matt) Pickett; and Christine (Juan Daniel) Torralba. Ralph’s legacy includes 15 grandchildren. They are Alyssa Christine Escobedo; Nicole Marie Padilla; Jason Castro; Christopher Vuori; Casey Stephenson; Casey Lane Wood; John Anthony Tello; Joshua, Noah, and Faith Abigail Ramirez; Ava Alessandra and Zoe Alexa Vasquez; Tyler Faith, Caden Martin, and Hattie Grace Boyd.

Grandchildren by marriage include Javid Amir and Alaina Ghamar Omar; Marcelo Daniel, Gabriel David, and Diego Christian Hernandez; Justin Glenn and Jason Librado Luckey; and Daniel Joaquin Torralba. Also left to treasure the memory of their youngest brother are three of Ralph’s sisters: Rebecca Franco; Mary Cedillo; and Irene (Abe) Villarreal as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Many people will recognize Ralph as the lead singer of his band, RALPH & THE CRUISERS.

As a friend put it so well, “God has a new songbird in heaven”. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are his nephews: Robert Franco, Jr; Richard Franco, Roger Franco, Eric Villarreal, and John Escobedo. His son-in-law, Joshua Boyd will serve as the sixth pallbearer.

The remaining members of Ralph’s band, RALPH & The Cruisers, will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. They are Francisco Morales, Mario Saenz, Arturo Saenz, Ramiro Garza, Faustino Estrada, Ernesto Bernal Gonzalez, Gabriel Chavez, Nino Chavez, and Rigoberto Rodriguez. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Trinity Funeral Homes, Harlingen, Texas.

Family visitation and viewing will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019, from 5-9 pm. A Holy Rosary will be said beginning at 7:30 pm. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the funeral home.

Immediately after, the body will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Cemetery in San Benito.
