Florence Edna Goodwin , September 04, 1916 — May 29, 2018

Edna Goodwin, born Sept 4, 1916 to Ada Roe Wood & Joseph Wood, died peacefully on May 29, 2018, at the age of 101 years. Her parents emigrated from England to Canada and then to the United States. She was a graduate of Beverly High School in 1933 and married her husband the late Chester B. Goodwin on October 24, 1938, and together they raised five children.

She was born, raised and lived her entire life in Beverly until recent years when she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Pat & Bob Broughton in Peabody, then to Oceanview in Beverly and most recently at Care One in Peabody.

Her family, friends and church were her priority. Her 50th wedding anniversary and 100th birthday were celebrated at her home church, Immanuel Congregational Church in Ryal Side. She was very active in the church over many years, singing in the choir, being part of the women’s group and hosting Bible study.

She loved music, was a talented organ player and knitter, enjoyed playing cards, bowling, playing games on the computer and loved to swim. During her marriage, Chet and Edna traveled often to Cape Cod and Florida for vacations. In her later years she enjoyed her vacations with family to Missouri, California, England, France and cruises in the Caribbean.

Her joy was her family and her many dear friends. She is survived by her children: son Richard Goodwin and partner Jill Palmacci of Beverly, daughter Patricia Broughton and her husband Robert of Peabody, Kenneth and his wife Bonnie Goodwin of West Yarmouth, Gerald and his wife Marian Goodwin of St. Louis, Joseph Goodwin of California; grandchildren Rena Richter, Julia Pena, Katie Goodwin, Laura Folsom, Douglas Broughton, Janice Crognale, Michael Goodwin, Jacob Goodwin, Christine Goodwin, Beth Goodwin, Patricia Davies Jeff Goodwin, Jairus & Erick Lawrence; 9 great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 1 PM.

Relatives and friends invited to attend. Burial in North Beverly Cemetery, Beverly. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 4 – 7 pm.
