Florenc Hixon , March 11, 2016 — October 12, 2018

Florence M. Hixon, 92, of Easton, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018 at the home of her son, David. Born August 30, 1926 in Easton, PA, she was a daughter of the late Reuben R. and Naomi (Roney) Messinger. Her husband of 70 years, Andrew J. “Andy” Hixon, passed away March 11, 2016.

Florence was a 1945 graduate of Easton High School. She loved spending time with her family to whom she was dedicated. For many years, she was a volunteer for the polls in the Eleventh Ward where she was currently Judge of Elections.

Years ago, she had also been a volunteer for the Easton Emergency Squad. Florence was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and WELCA. She was a member of the Greater Easton Area Democratic Women’s Club, Northampton County Council of Democratic Women and former president of the South Side Civic Association.

Surviving are four sons, Russell and Robert Hixon, both of Easton, Paul Hixon and his wife Barbara, of Louisville, KY, and David Hixon and his wife Robin, of Easton; a daughter, Carol Dorminda, of Carlisle, PA; a sister, Sarah Messinger, of Easton; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Lester Dorminda, a daughter-in-law, Vicky Hixon, a grandson, Christopher Hixon, three brothers, John, Clair and Carl Messinger, and six sisters, Gladys and Helen Shea, Ruth Smith, Evelyn Churchill, Marion and Anna Mae Messinger. Services will be held at Noon Saturday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 602 W. Berwick St., Easton.
