Floyd E Wilhite, Jr died at age 84 on March 7, 2019. He was born on February 13, 1935 in Evansville. He went to Harwood Grade School and graduated from Reitz High School in 1953 where he was on the baseball and golf team.

After High School he played baseball for Center Township. He loved golf since caddying at Clearcrest golf course when he was a child. He played with the Hadi Golf League.

His love of golf continued throughout his life. He also followed U of E, IU and the Colts with passion. He was retired from Indiana Wholesalers where he was an outside sales person in the tristate area.

He also worked at Sears contract sales for several years in the same position. He had also worked at Master Tire. He traveled for several years to Florida in the winter months after retirement.

He was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ and a former member of St. John’s East UCC. Floyd was a member of the Lessing Lodge #464, Scottish Rite, Hadi Temple, past Captain of the Hadi Color Guard, Hadi Hospital Staff and Hadi Golf League. He was a member and Past President of East Side Optimist Club and Kentucky Colonel and Swords of Bunker Hill.

He served 6 years in the United States Army Reserve. He was a Webelo leader with the scouts and a coach for East Side Little League Hawks baseball team. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd E. Wilhite Sr. and Nora Frances (Grayson) Wilhite; brother, Charles; and baby sister, Edith.

He is survived by his wife Pat (Johnson) with 61 years of marriage; sons, Jeff, Greg (MaLinda); daughter, Kim (Tim) Teel; granddaughters, Lynn (Marker) Tibbals, Emily (Mark) Williams, Kelsey Teel, Stephanie (Dennis) Radoux, Heather (Nick) Raab; grandson, Nathan Teel; great grandchildren, Eli Raab and Paisley Raab; sisters, Bettye Paul and Doris Gatewood; brother, Gary Wilhite; sisters in law, Joyce (Don) Arrigo and Jane Johnson as well as nieces and nephews. He had a great love of life and loved his family and being with them as often as possible. His will to live is what kept him going as well as his team of doctors.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the specialized team of ICU doctors and nurses at St. Vincent Hospital – Evansville for their care and compassion. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Karen Fraser Moore officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2019 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL where the Hadi Shrine will conduct a Walk Through at 5:45 p.m. and Lessing Lodge #464 will conduct a Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Monday, March 11, 2019. Memorial Contributions may be made to: Hadi Shrine Transportation Fund, 6 Walnut Street, Evansville, IN 47708.
