Bonavita November 09, 1944 – February 02, 2019 Share this obituary Upload Photo| View/Sign Guest Book Frank Joseph Bonavita of Brick, New Jersey passed away peacefully February 2, 2019 at Ocean Medical Center after a long illness. Born in Newark, New Jersey to the late Olympia and Nicholas Bonavita, Frank graduated from Bloomfield High School and Seton Hall University, earning his Bachelor of Arts. Frank worked for Avery Dennison for 31 years as the Director of Sales.

He was married to Trudy Halpin Bonavita for 53 years, who is also from Bloomfield and attended Bloomfield High School. She was the principal of St. Denis School in Manasquan. Together they raised four children in Brick.

Frank was a communicant of St. Dominic’s Church, where he served as a lector and extraordinary minister for many years. He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and traveling. Frank also appreciated fishing and boating and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his four children: Christopher J. Bonavita and his wife Maureen Starkey Bonavita, Paul N. Bonavita and his wife Martha Calello Bonavita, Megan Bonavita Renna and her husband Jesse Renna, and Alison Bonavita Prendevlle and her husband Keith Prendeville and his 12 grandchildren: Sean, James, Grace, Sara, Andrew, Lindsay, Luke, Maddie, Ellie, Nicholas, Matthew and Sophia. Frank will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends for a viewing on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, from 2PM to 8PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick, NJ.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11AM at Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s memory can be made to either The Maureen Fund for Ovarian Cancer or Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.
