Obituary for Franklin “Delano” Padgett Franklin “Delano” Padgett, age 81, of Erwin, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at his home. A native of Erwin, Delano is a son of the late James Mack and Amanda Belle (Frances) Padgett. He was a member of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church and an employee of Nuclear Fuel Services for 35 years.

Delano was a loving husband, father, papaw and uncle. He was a hard worker who loved watching Tennessee football, playing golf and doing things with his granddaughter. In addition to his parents, Delano is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Padgett; brother, Ivory Padgett, sister, Glenna Padgett; sisters-in-law, Charlene Padgett and Helen Padgett; brothers-in-law, Jack Wilson and Earl Edwards.

Franklin “Delano” Padgett has left behind to cherish his memory: Daughter: April Padgett Baker and husband, Chris, of Middlesboro, KY; Granddaughter: Abby Baker, of Middlesboro, KY; Sisters: Ruby Wilson, of Erwin, Shirley Whitson and husband, Paul, of Erwin, Mae Edwards, of Flint, MI, Linda Morefield and husband, Bill, of GA; Brothers: Deward Padgett, of Blountville, Sonny Padgett, of Erwin; Several nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Caris Healthcare in Greeneville, TN for the great care they provided for him. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Franklin “Delano” Padgett in a funeral service to be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church.

Reverend Howard Messer and Reverend Noah Taylor will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church and will continue until the hour of service. A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM on Sunday, June 3, 2018 in the mausoleum chapel at Evergreen Cemetery.

Those attending will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 10:15 AM to go in procession. Those serving as active pallbearers will be Scott Whitson, Macky Padgett, Tim Whitson, Walter Padgett, Jimmy Padgett, Cody Padgett, Jeff Padgett and David Morefield. Honorary pallbearers will be Micky Whitson, Steve Wilson, Gary Padgett, Boo Ambrose, Craig McCurry and Darrell Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and viewed at www.
