Obituary for Richard Dwight Coggins Richard Dwight Coggins, age 65, of Erwin, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center. Richard was born in Virginia and lived most of his life in Erwin. He is a son of the late William and Sarah Coggins.

He was a Mason and a Maintenance Track Foreman for Norfolk Southern. Richard was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He loved fishing and woodworking.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by two brothers: Robert Avery Coggins and Ellis Jack Coggins. Richard Dwight Coggins has left behind to cherish his memory: Wife of 28 years: Estelle (Bonnie) Horton Coggins; Sisters: Jean Stafford and husband, K.P., of Gray, TN, Nancy Gentry, of KY, Evelyn Thomas, of FL, Violet Owens, of Limestone, TN; Children: Joseph Horton and wife, Lisa, of Erwin, Daniel Coggins, Michelle Lawrence; Grandchildren: Chyanne Coggins, of Erwin, Cassidy Horton, of Johnson City, Natile Horton, of Erwin, Brianna Hensley, of Erwin. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Richard Dwight Coggins in a funeral service to begin at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 21, 2018 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home.

A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until service time on Monday. A graveside committal service will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Those attending will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 1:00 PM for the service.

Pallbearers will be notified. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and viewed at www.
