Obituary for Cora Louise Fleenor Cora Louise Lewis O’Dell Stines Fleenor, age 89, of Johnson City, passed away unexpectedly and graduated from this life to be with her Lord on Monday, June 11, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Johnson City, Cora is a daughter of the late Luther Bernie and Lillian Elsie (Correll) Lewis and a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church, where she was involved in Sunday School. She worked for many years as a beautician and eventually taught at cosmetology school.

Cora was also employed by Harris Tarkett as a Hardwood Flooring Grater until she retired. She was an early riser and was very independent and active. She was a breast cancer survivor for 38 years and participated in the Breast Cancer Walk at Bristol Motor Speedway as often as she could.

She was very involved with her church and senior citizens group and enjoyed staying active and visiting places with friends. In addition to her parents, Cora is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Fleenor. Cora Louise Fleenor leaves behind to cherish her memory: Brother: Harry Everett Lewis, World War II veteran, age 92, and his wife, Ann, of Michigan; Daughters: Jeanette Stines, of Georgia, Marcia O’Dell Carr, of Georgia; Grandsons: Martin L. Carr, of Virginia, Garth D. Carr and wife, Donna, of Virginia; Great grandchildren: Rachel Silver, of North Carolina, Tyler E. Carr, of Virginia, Camryn L. Carr, of Virginia.

The family would like to offer special thanks to her friend, Ann Shell and her neighbor Frank, who found her unresponsive and called 911; her close friend, Mabel, who took her on trips to Abingdon; the emergency room staff at Johnson City Medical Center for their care and support including Dr. Garrick Misenar and Case Nurse, Wayne; the staff at Valley Funeral Home; and other friends and church family who were part of her life. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Cora Louise Fleenor in a funeral service to be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Roy Yelton will officiate.

A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 16, 2018 and will continue until the hour of service. A committal service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery following the funeral service on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Those attending the committal service will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 2:00 PM to go in procession.

Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family. Honorary pallbearer will be Leroy Harrison. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Oakland Avenue Baptist Church, 2823 E Oakland Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601 Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and viewed at www.
