Obituary for Grady D. Hughes Grady D. Hughes, age 63, of Erwin, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at his residence. Mr. Hughes is a native of Johnson City and a son of the late Charlie and Mary Ruth Privette Hughes. He worked for the former NN Ball and Roller as a machinist in the Roller Division.

Mr. Hughes loved to fish, loved Nascar, enjoyed playing video games with Josh, and had a love for old cars. Grady was a member of Canah Chapel Free Will Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher and a former trustee. In addition to his parents, Grady is preceded in death by his half-brothers, Willie Alvin Greene, Sr. and Sammy Ray Greene, Sr. and nieces, Kelly Marie Poore Gantt and Kari Case.

Grady Hughes has left behind to cherish his memory: Wife of 42 years: Sandra Hughes of Erwin; Son: Josh Hughes; Daughter: Brittany Thomas and husband, Stephen; Sisters: Thelma Jean Hughes Ayers and husband, Johnny, Sylvia Elizabeth Hughes Hutton and husband, Robert; Several Nieces and Nephews. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Grady Hughes in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2018 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Mark Simmons will officiate.

A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2018 and will continue until service time in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Those wishing to attend the committal service will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 10:30 AM to go in procession.

Those serving as active pallbearers will be Brittany Thomas, Mark Whitson, Doug Whitson, Adam Whitson, Kevin Ayers, Winston Claspul. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and viewed at www.
