Obituary for Oliver “Ollie” Henley Oliver (Ollie) Jackson Henley, 77 years old, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Erwin Health Care Center, in Erwin. He retired from Nuclear Fuel Services after 43 years of service. He was an avid ball player.

He loved coaching Little League and played ball for NFS for many years and all sports in high school at Lamar High School. He had many friends who loved him dearly. Mr. Henley is preceded in death by one brother: (Bud) Leroy Henley; and one sister: Cinderella Miller.

Oliver (Ollie) Jackson Henley leaves behind to cherish his memory: Wife of 54 years: Rita Henley; Son: Martin Henley, of Georgia; Grandsons: Austin Henley and Kip Henley, of Georgia; Sisters: Viola Bailey; Nieces: Patty Kimberlin, Penny Dunford, Susan Thompson; Nephews: Steve Ragan, Tim Henley, Scotty Bailey, Jeff Edwards, Charles Miller. He was the son of Walter Alexander Henley and Ellen Henley. The family would like to offer special thanks to all of the doctors and nurses who cared for Oliver.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Oliver (Ollie) Jackson Henley in a funeral service to be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 7, 2018 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Bishop John Edwards will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 7, 2018 and will continue until service time in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home.

A committal service will be held in Cherokee Baptist Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Those attending will meet at Valley Funeral Home for the 2:00 PM service to go in procession. Serving as active pallbearers will be his best friends: Billy Tittle, Terry Tittle, Vaughn Tucker, Chipper (Chip) White, Benny Stout, Austin Henley, Kip Henley, special friend and buddy: Joe Harrell and friend and very special pal: Ruben Price.
