Obituary for Gaynell Davis Proverbs 31:30 …A woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Gaynell Hensley Davis, born May 21, 1922, a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of Robert Floyd and Sarah Elizabeth Blankenship Hensley, passed into the presence of The Lord on October 1, 2018 at her home in Erwin, TN, while surrounded by her loving family. The greatest love of Gaynell’s life was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
After that, her family and friends filled her heart with warmth and joy daily. Gaynell Davis was an avid quilter, quilting many beautiful quilts on an old quilting frame built by her father that hung from the kitchen ceiling. Gaynell loved family, church, flowers, gardening, sewing, cooking, reading, and genealogy studies.
She loved old sayings and used them often to teach her children the best way to live life. One of her most frequently used sayings was; ‘You can talk about me all you please, but I’ll talk about you when I’m on my knees’. She believed speaking ill of anyone was paramount to killing them, though they were still walking, talking, and breathing.
Gaynell was a Godly woman and a fit pattern for anyone who would like to hear; ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant …enter into the joy of thy Lord,’ from the God she loved so dearly. Other than her parents, Gaynell Davis was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Reverend Verno Harris Davis, who went to his heavenly home in 2013, her precious son, Gerald Lynn Davis, her loving brother, Conley Wayne Hensley, and loving sisters, Ollie Grace Hensley, and Mabel Lois Hensley. Gaynell Davis is survived by her cherished children: Verdie Davis Sanders, husband, Edward, Evelyn Davis King, husband, Terry, Rev.
