Obituary for Shirley Jean Tipton Shirley “Mom Mom” Jean Tipton, age 80, of Erwin, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018, at Unicoi County Long Term Care. A native of Erwin, Shirley is a daughter of the late Ezra and Jettie Silvers and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. She loved crocheting, canning, gardening and going to church.

She loved spending time with her grandbabies. In addition to her parents. Shirley is preceded in death by her daughter: Carolyn Martinez; brothers: Ezra Silvers, Jr. and Claude Silvers; and great-grandbabies: Trevor Buchanan and Waylon Perry.

Shirley “Mom Mom” Jean Tipton leaves behind to cherish her memory: Children: Jerry Tipton and wife, Debbie, Darrell Tipton, Doris Tipton, Ricky Tipton and wife, Judy, Wanda Farley and husband, Jimmy, Edward Tipton, Margaret Church, Willard Tipton and wife, Donna Sue, Mary Yokley, Bobby Tipton, Larry Tipton and wife, Kim, Melissa Rutherford and husband, Bobby, Monica Tipton; 49 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; Brothers: Wiley Silvers, Cozy Silvers; Sisters: Velda Kate Burchett, Lennis Tipton, Phyllis Davis; Several nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Unicoi County Long Term Care and Avalon Hospice for their loving care. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Shirley “Mom Mom” Jean Tipton in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, November 30, 2018 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home.

Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until the hour of service on Friday, and other times at the home of Melissa Rutherford, 321 S Willow Street, Erwin, TN 37650. A committal service will be held in Silvers Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 1, 2018.

Those attending will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 9:30 AM to go in procession. Pallbearers will be Ms. Tipton’s grandsons. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and viewed at www.
