Obituary for Mrs. Lorraine Ledford Bailey Mrs. Lorraine Ledford Bailey, age 73, of Erwin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Mitchell County, NC, Lorraine is a daughter of Doris (DeGroat) Ledford and the late Robert Ledford. She was a member of Pathway Freewill Baptist Church in Erwin.
In addition to her father, Lorraine is preceded in death by her first husband: Reverend Clay Daniels; second husband: Wesley Bailey; son: David “Berry” Daniels. In addition to her mother, Lorraine Bailey has left behind to cherish her memory: Daughters: Tammie Wilson, of Erwin, Bobbie Buchanan, of Erwin, Janet Trivett, of Newland, NC; Son: Samuel Clay “Bo” Daniels, Jr., of Newdale, NC; Step-son: Danny Bailey, of Erwin; Adopted son: John Stanley “Stan” Ault, of Erwin; Brother: Bob Ledford, of Bakersville, NC Sister: Linda Calhoun, of Morganton, NC Eight grandchildren; Eight great-grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews; Her church family. The family would like to offer special thanks to Mountain States Hospice; all of the doctors who went above and beyond to take care of her; her Pathway Freewill Baptist Church family; all of her friends, family and neighbors who have visited, called, cared, loved and prayed for her during her illness.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Mrs. Lorraine Ledford Bailey in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Matthew Robinson will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until service time on Wednesday.
A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 14, 2018 in Daniels Cemetery, Plumtree, NC. Those attending will meet at Daniels Cemetery by 10:50 AM for the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Glyn Higgins, Wayne Higgins, Chris Duncan, Gary Whittamore, Tom Banks and Stanley Ault.
