Obituary of Franklyn Laufersweiler Franklyn “Bucky” Laufersweiler, 84, of Forestburgh, New York, passed away, Thursday, April 26th, 2018 at home with family. Franklyn was born March 9th, 1935 in Monticello, NY to Franklyn and Elizabeth (Hudson) Laufersweiler. He graduated from Monticello Central High School in 1952.

Dad joined the Army and served in the Korean Conflict from 1954-1956. He married the love of his life, Ellen Laura MacMurdo, on September 28th, 1957. They were married 59 years until the time of Ellen’s death on February 19th, 2017.

Dad was most noted for his work ethic, working 28 years as a Corrections Officer for New York State corrections, while also running his own flooring business. After his family was raised and the nest was empty, he and Mom found a quaint mid-state town called Hammondsport and fell in love with the town folk and their quiet and healthy lifestyle. They opened two successful Bed and Breakfasts, which they operated for nearly 30 years.

Franklyn is survived by his five children, Franklyn J Laufersweiler III, his wife Karen and their three children, Tyler, Ian (Angie), great granddaughter Ella, and Emma, of Monticello, NY, Dennis Laufersweiler, of Rock Hill, NY, Shawn Laufersweiler, of Rock Hill, NY and his loving Daughter Dawn Beth Feinman and her husband Mac and two daughters, Hanna and Alexis of Jeffersonville, NY, James Laufersweiler, of Flagstaff AZ, and many nieces and nephews. His parents, Franklyn and Elizabeth, his sister Lucille and his loving wife of 59 years, Ellen Laura Laufersweiler, predeceased him. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
