Frederick “Sonny” Ahrens, age 78, of Maumee, Ohio passed away after a brief cancer illness on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 29, 1939 to Warren and Ruth (Wangrin) Ahrens. Sonny worked at Pexco Packaging, City Auto, Chrysler and Shindler Haughton Elevator.

Surviving is his wife, Nancy; children; Fred Ahrens Jr., Suzanne (Ahrens) Slovak; grandchildren, Martin Slovak IV, Lynn Ahrens, Victoria Slovak, Hanna Slovak, Kate Lynn Slovak;… Read More » siblings, Mari Lou, Martha Anne(Jim), Joann, Sharon, Kevin (Linda), Diane, sister-in-law, Ann and her companion, Pete and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, George, Leroy, and Florence. The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland of Perrysburg, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Fairfield Presbyterian Church of Toledo, First Presbyterian Church of Maumee for all their loving prayers and care for Fred Sr. Friends and Family will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral home on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 9:00-1:00 with a Funeral Service following at 1:00 P.M. Interment to follow at Springfield Township Cemetery.

Following interment, family, friends, and guests are invited to a Celebration of Life which will be held at Fairgreen Presbyterian Church, 3220 Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory to Fred Sr. to Fairgreen Presbyterian Church.
