Gary Gordon, 78, of Burlington, died at 5:35 pm Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born September 14, 1940, in Saint Louis, MO, he was the son of Ralph and Mildred Gordon. On December 9, 1966, he married Arlene Koppes Ruth in Wichita, KS.

Gary was a welder at JI Case for 25 years. He served in the US Air Force for eight years then for twenty-five years in the US Army Reserves. Gary loved jazz and blues music.

He enjoyed good food, going to auctions, working on cars and tinkering. Survivors include wife, Arlene Gordon of Burlington, three daughters, Tanya (Brian) Carlson of McKinney, TX, Rhonda Schafer of Williamsburg, VA and Cheri Cain of Kansas City, MO, two sons, Shawn Gordon of Des Moines and Greg (Christy) Gordon of Huston, TX, fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sister, Deanne (Charlie) Dieckhouse of Union, MO, brother-in-law, Dale (Barb) Ruth of West Burlington, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by one brother and two children.

There will be no formal visitation or services at this time. Gary has deeded his body to the University of Iowa for medical research.
