Frost, Gary Armand It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Armand Frost, known to many as “Frosty”, announce his passing on Friday, May 10, 2018, at the age of 63. Gary was born in Amesbury, Mass. on Jan 15, 1955 to Walter and Carline Frost.
A graduate of Pentucket Regional Sr High School in West Newbury, Mass. , Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force and graduated from basic training on December 12, 1973. Shortly after, he met his wife Rose and had their first daughter, Kathy, in 1976. Gary moved his family to Lowry AFB in Colorado Springs where they had their second daughter, Caroline, in 1980. While at Lowry AFB, Gary worked on the highly modified Boeing that carried the Space Shuttle Columbia.
Gary was also a reserve fire fighter for the Cimarron Hills Fire Department where he was reached the rank of Captain. Gary eventually moved his family to Andrews AFB in Maryland where he worked on and maintained another unique Boeing known as Air Force One. During his Air Force career, he rose to the rank of Technical Sgt and received the Valor Award for heroism in combat, Outstanding Unit Award for excelling in combat operations against an armed enemy of the US, the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, amongst numerous other awards and letters of commendation.
On May 9, 1988, Gary began a long and rewarding career with United Airlines as an aviation maintenance line technician. His exceptional skills, coupled with his leadership abilities quickly elevated him to a Lead position, handling a crew of highly respected and talented group of technicians. To his coworkers, his dedication and passion for his job was unsurpassed.
He was admired and respected by peers and leaders alike. On May 9, 2018 – one day before his passing – Gary reached the 30 Year Milestone with United Airlines. Gary was an avid fisherman.
He enjoyed spending time on the lake with his family, especially his grandchildren. When he was able to take time off, he would travel back home to New Hampshire to go hunting with his brother, Wayne, and Wayne’s two sons, Shane and Ethan. Those who knew Gary remember him for his unique personality and character, as well as his ability to talk about anything, anytime, anywhere.
In the words of a good friend, “They don’t make ‘em like him anymore”. Gary is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rose, his two daughters, Kathy and Caroline, his five grandchildren Jada, Devyn, Jules, Drew and Jorel, and his brother Wayne. A service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday May 27 at East Lawn in Sacramento.
His remains will be laid to rest with Military Honors at 2:30 PM on Tuesday May 29 at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.
