Gayle Irene Monasmith, 59, of Arkansas City, KS, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. Following her wishes, cremation will take place. Services are pending with Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City, KS.

The family wishes memorial donations go to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 98018, Washington DC 20090-8018. Gayle Irene was born on July 24, 1959 in Garnett, KS the daughter of William “Bill” and Beverly Nicole (Burns) Holmes. She graduated from high school worked in the nursing profession her entire career.

She worked as a certified nurse’s aide, medication aide and restorative aide for Medicalodges, Kansas Veteran’s Home and Cumbernauld Village. Gayle enjoyed singing, playing cards, fishing and reading. Her family includes: her children; Lesa Enderud and husband James and John Michael Holmes and wife Candida all of Arkansas City; her husband, John I. Monasmith; her siblings, Robert Holmes and wife Twila, Gary Holmes and wife Jessica, Peggy Isreal and Jeannie Williams and her 4 grandchildren; Christopher Walker, Skiler Holmes, Gabrielle Monasmith and Johnathon Monasmith.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Becky Holmes.
