Talmadge “Gene” Eugene Medlin, 79, of Midland, NC passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 at home surrounded by his family after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Gene was born July 17, 1939 in Charlotte, NC to the late John Dever Medlin and the late Rena Estelle Medlin. He was also preceded in death by his son, Brian Monroe Medlin; and his brother Donald Medlin.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jane Medlin; daughter, Melanie Medlin Hall and husband Michael; Melissa Medlin Fulton and fiance Jon Shaben; grandson Justin Hall; granddaughter, Ashley Spence and husband Alan; grandsons Logan Fulton and Brandon Fulton; sisters, Loretta Calloway, Norma Osborne and Mary Pondo. Gene loved to be outside enjoying nature, but most of all he loved his family and especially his four grandchildren. Gene will be dearly missed by all those who knew him and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 8th at Little Church on the Lane, 522 Moravian Lane, Charlotte, NC officiated by Pastor Jeff Carter. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to the Little Church on the Lane.
