Funeral services for George Albert Tarver, 71, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, February 24, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home with Pastor John Tarver officiating. Interment will be at a later date at San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston. Mr. Tarver was born February 16, 1948 in Houston, Texas, and died Thursday, February 21, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. Tarver enjoyed working on cars, traveling to Disney World, and being with his grandchildren. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Joy Tarver of Bellville, TX; daughter, Lisa Ann Tarver of Brenham, TX; granddaughter, Lucy Barbisch of Brenham, TX; granddaughter, Jordan Tarver of Bellville, TX; grandson, Linus Barbisch of Brenham, TX; grandson, Levi Barbisch of Brenham, TX; grandson, Johnathan Tarver of Bellville, TX; mother of his children, Linda Arning Tarver of Bellville, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Steve Chalender of Bullard, TX; sister, Jeanne Fullerton of Lufkin; sister, Charlene “DeeDee” Warren of Lufkin; along with nieces and nephews. Mr. Tarver was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jo Ann (Bryan) Tarver; brother, Lance Corporal Jerry L. Noland; niece, Carrie Hobson; and nephew, Delbert Warren.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin. Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
