Graveside services for Janie Bridges Stroud, 80, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Gann Cemetery with Bro. Ty Phillips officiating. Ms. Stroud was born March 26, 1938 in Huntsville, Texas, the daughter of the late Loyal Henry Bridges and Ocie (Dominy) Bridges, and died Sunday, February 17, 2019 at her residence.

Ms. Stroud enjoyed reading and working cross-word puzzles. She loved the beach, her animals, and cooking for her family. Ms. Stroud was of Baptist faith and retired from First Bank and Trust.

She is survived by her son, William A. “Buddy” Stroud of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Suzie and Egbert Terstegen of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and George McClain of Lufkin; grandchildren, Chad Rice and wife Robin of Colorado Springs, Jennifer Davis and husband Jesse of Round Rock, TX, Leesa Easthagen and husband Tanis of Kyle, TX, and Stephanie McClain of Lufkin; great-grandson, Silas Easthagen of Kyle, TX; along with numerous cousins and other family members. Ms. Stroud was preceded in death by her parents. Special memorials may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Ave.

, Lufkin, Texas 75904 or to the Winnie Berry Humane Society, 1102 N. John Redditt Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin. Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
