George L. Chase, Jr. was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 16, 1940, to the union of George L. Chase, Sr. and Mabel Chase. George departed this life on April 21, 2018. He was preceded in death by both parents, a sister, Eltra Nelson, brothers, Frederick Chase and Gilbert Chase, and Barbara Chase.

George attended Baltimore public schools and afterwards served in the US Air Force. While stationed at Richards Gebaur Air Force Base in Kansas City, Missouri he met Barbara Jean Montgomery and to that union they raised four kids. Deacon George Chase became a member of Christ Temple Pentecostal Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend Lee A. Tolbert in 1972.

He accepted Christ shortly afterwards. He served in several ministries, at Christ Temple and Victorious Life under Bishop Mark C. Tolbert that included, the Usher Board, Trustee, Deacon, VLC Board, Social Action Ministry and he was a recipient of the VLC Hall of Faith Award. He loved the Lord, Christian Education, Bible Study, and mentoring people.

He was a hard worker who loved and provided for his family. He retired in 2007 from Smurfit-Stone Container Company as a Machinist. After retirement he joined the Emmanuel Cleaver YMCA which became his second family.

He was a member of the Silver Sneakers at the YMCA. He enjoyed sewing dolls which were donated to the children at Children Mercy’s Hospital and loved visiting and playing with his grandchildren. He visited the sick and shut in.

George L. Chase leaves to cherish his memories, one brother, William V. Chase, Sr. (Peggy) of Baltimore Maryland; two sons, Kevin L. Chase (Teresa) of West Richland, Washington and Raymond C. Chase (Lois) of Raytown, Missouri; two daughters, Paula R. Thompson (Gregory) of Independence Missouri and Carla M. Akers (June) of Kansas City, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends. Funeral Service for George L. Chase will be held Thursday April 26, 6:00 p.m. at Victorious Life Church, 3400 Paseo Blvd. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Church.

Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery.
