Milton Henry “Buster” Layton Jr., 85, passed away Thursday April 19, 2018, at Oak Ridge of Plattsburg. Buster was born October 30, 1932 to Milton and Elnora (Felix) Layton, in Leavenworth, Kansas, and was the oldest of 13 children. He went to school until 8th grade, and then he joined the Navy.

After returning from the Navy, Buster realized how important his education was, and return to finish his high school education. At the age of 24, he graduated from Weston High School, in Weston, MO. On February 6, 1969 he married Dorothy Mansil.

While finishing his education he worked for Ford and an inspector, and worked the weekends on his family’s tobacco farm. Buster enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He never met a stranger and would help anyone in need.

Buster will always be remembered for his big heart, and is love and compassion as a husband, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Roy and Oliver Layton, and his sister Emma Layton. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, daughters; Sally (Wiley) Owens of Smithville, MO, Alicia Taylor of St. Joseph, MO, and two sons Charles (Amy) of Smithville, MO and Keith (Amber) of Smithville, MO, brothers Bob, Tom, and Edward Layton, and sisters; Nancy Shader, Peggy Jackson, Mary Davison, and Jeanne Albright.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and a host of many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 10:00AM with Funeral Services immediately following at 11:00 AM at Terrace Park Funeral Home; 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Burial to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery.
