George P. Simcheck, 90, of 25521 Henry Rd. , Cambridge Springs, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018, at home, surrounded by his loving family. George was born at home in Blacktown, Mercer County, on January 17, 1928, a son of the late Frank and Catherine (Yusavage) Simcheck.

On July 29, 1949, George married Eileen Blakeslee; she preceded him in death on September 17, 2017. He was an active member of Cambridge Springs First Church of God which he loved attending not just… Read More » on Sundays, but usually four days per week. He often served as lay minister when the pastor was not available.

He was devoted to his Lord God, around whom he focused his life. George attended Rockdale Schools and graduated from Cambridge Springs High School. From the time he was a young child, George worked on the family dairy farm which he purchased in 1949.

Working on the farm gave George much joy. He loved being outdoors, tending to his animals, running his bull dozer, and witnessing God’s creations. George enjoyed hunting and playing baseball, especially with his brother Ed.

He looked forward to the many after-church softball games. George’s love for his family was second to none and that love was returned to him. Among other things, he will be remembered for his positive attitude, his strong belief of treating others well and his reflection of his favorite bible verse, [John 11:35] “Jesus wept”.

George will be deeply missed. George is survived by three sons George Simcheck, David Simcheck and his wife Andrea, Stephen Simcheck and his wife Theresa all of Cambridge Springs, four grandchildren Jeremy Simcheck and his wife Abigail, Travis Simcheck and his wife Ashley, Stephen Simcheck, Zachary Simcheck, five great grandchildren Nicholas, Mason, Addison, Katelyn and Wyatt Simcheck, a daughter in law Linda J. Simcheck of Saegertown, two sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Blakeslee and her husband Donald of Findlay Lake, NY, Shirley Simcheck of Cambridge Springs, a brother Robert Simcheck and his wife Theresa of Cambridge Springs, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, and his wife Eileen of 68 years, George was preceded in death by a son, Mark E. Simcheck and a brother Edward Simcheck.

Family and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services, including a brief time of sharing and remembering the life of George, on Monday, June 18, 2018, at 11 AM at First Church of God, 634 Venango Ave. , Cambridge Springs, with Rev. James Callender, Pastor, officiating.

George will be laid to rest next to his wife, Eileen, in Cambridge Springs Upper Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of God, 634 Venango Ave. , Cambridge Springs, PA 16403.

Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. , 404 CHESTNUT ST. , MEADVILLE.
