George’s Obituary NATION, George R. “Ray” – of Flint, age 92, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2019 at Rose Cottage Senior Living in Davison. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held 2 PM Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 6100 Richfield Rd.

, Flint; Rev. Pete Scribner officiating. Visitation will be from 1 PM until time of service on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. Ray was born December 16, 1926 in Charleston, Illinois to the late Alva and Freda (Marks) Nation. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army.

Ray married the former Jean L. Tompkins on June 4, 1949. They were married for nearly 60 years when she predeceased him on May 19, 2009. He purchased Tompkins Hardware from his father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Retta Tompkins in 1951 and passed it on to his family in 1978.

Ray was a snowbird in Punta Gorda, FL after his retirement. Ray leaves to cherish his memory three children, Jenet (Ed) LaBarge, Susan (Mike) Kale, Randy (Chris) Nation; four grandchildren, Hollie, Heidi, Nicholas, Lucas; nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Russell (Shirley) Nation.
