George Robert “Bob” Broad Age 76, of Mineral City, passed away Monday May 21, 2018. He was born March 13, 1942 in East Sparta, a son of the late George and Norma (Slutz) Broad, Jr., lived in Sandyville while raising his family, then the last 28 years at Atwood Lake, and also wintered in Englewood, FL for 20 years. Bob was a 1960 graduate of Sandy Valley High School and retired in 1990 from Diebold Inc., after 28 years service, where he was a supervisor.

He was a 46 year member of Caldwell Lodge #60. F. & A.M. and also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton. Bob enjoyed life to the fullest, with family and friends foremost.

He liked to golf, hunt, and going to garage sales to bargain over prices. He would have his garage doors open for friends to visit and share stories and homemade wines. He and Betty traveled extensively and visited all 50 states, three times to Europe, and went on eight cruises.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry in 1970 and Bill in 1984. Bob is survived by his wife and best friend, Betty J. (Harsha) Broad, with whom he celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary on Dec. 10th; their four sons, George Robert “Bob” Broad, Jr., of Canton, Brian Broad, of Sandyville, Brad (Tammy) Broad, of Massillon, and Bruce Broad, of Medina; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Brian (Megan) Broad, and their son, George, Michelle, Rachel, Cassie, and Camryn Broad; one sister and one brother, Linda (Don) Englehart, of Magnolia and Jim Broad, of Pigeon Forge, TN.

Services will be held Sat. at 11 a.m. in East Sparta Christian Church with Brother Tim Carlson and Rev. William Moody officiating.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. Friends may call Friday 4-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia and Sat. 10-11 a.m. at the church before the service.
