Mary Margaret (Knarr) Richards, Mary passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at her home in Malvern, Ohio. She was born on October 18, 1949 in Mansfield, Ohio. Mary attended The Ohio State University where she met her husband, Fred Emery Richards.

Married for 50 years, they had 3 children, Amy Leah McMullen of Port St. Lucie, FL, Chip Richards of Honolulu, HI, and Logan Elliot Richards of Phoenix, AZ. Mary is also survived by her sister Kathy Shambre of Mansfield, OH and three grandchildren who she adored, Annastasia Zeiger of Columbus, OH, Alexis Zeiger of Orlando, FL, and Jase Richards of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceeded in death by her mother, Virginia Race Wenning.

Mary was a graduate of The University of Akron and taught school at Canton City Schools for many years. Mary was an avid quilter and and strong advocate of the ABC Quilt Project supporting babies and infants of AIDS and other illnesses. Mary loved music, gardening, tennis, the Pittsburg Steelers and cooking.

At her request, she will be cremated and a private service for family will be held in Hawaii at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stark County Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis in her name which she bravely battled for over 20 years. May her spirit and spunk live on with all of us.
