Obituary for George Schlecht Schlecht, George George Schlecht, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 20, 2018. He was born on February 24, 1932 in Ungersdorf, Romania to Johann and Sophia Schlecht. Lived in Gmunden, Austria and was employed as supervisor at the Traunsteinwerke until he came to the United States in August, 1955.

Served in the United States Air Force in Texarkana, Texas, before moving to Columbus, Ohio. Owner of an office equipment sales & service company and a travel agency. Active member of Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Member, singer and past president of the Saxon Club, Germania Singing and Sports Society and board member and singer of The Columbus Maennerchor. Long time Charity Newsies volunteer. Preceded in death by his son George Alan, his parents, and brother Johann.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Rosina, daughter Rosemary S. and her husband Erich F. Gellner, grandchildren Michael A. and Erika R. Gellner, several nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at O.R. Woodyard Company South Chapel, 1346 S. High St, Columbus, from 1-4 pm. A service will immediately follow with Pastor Doug Warburton presiding including a Maennerchor service.

Private interment service on Monday at Green Lawn Cemetery. Flowers are welcome and donations may be made in George’s memory to the American Heart Association or to Charity Newsies. Share with the family at www.
