George Warren Clark Sr , February 07, 1928 — October 24, 2018

George Warren Clark, Sr., 90, of Raleigh, went to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 24, 2018, with his family by his side. Warren will always be remembered as a hard working husband, devoted Daddy and precious Papa. His family feels very blessed to have had him as part of their lives.

Warren was the eldest son of George Morris and Mary Johnson Clark. He grew up working hard on a tobacco farm in Knightdale. He graduated from Knightdale High School in 1945.

While in high school, he met the love of his life Betty Ruth Broadwell. He became the manager of Hackney’s, a former sporting goods store at North Hills Mall. Later, he became a salesman at Johnson-Lambe Sporting Goods.

When he retired, he worked diligently in his vegetable garden. He sold his produce by an honor system in the front yard of his home on Poole Road in Raleigh. He also enjoyed fishing in several area ponds.

He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he married his wife of almost 69 years. He served as a deacon for many years there. Warren was a faithful member for as long as his health allowed.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, son, Billy Joe Clark and brothers: Wallace G. Clark and Bobby G. Clark. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Ruth Broadwell Clark; son, George Warren Clark, Jr. (Pannee) of Knightdale; daughters: Brenda C. Lee of Apex, Melissa C. Medlin (Stoney) of Stokesdale; grandchildren: Allison Lee Rifkin (Kyle) of Charlotte, Grace E. Medlin, Graham I. Medlin, Mary Hannah Medlin all of Stokesdale; brother, Herbert G. Clark (Ruth) of Raleigh; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Saturday, October 27, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545 and other times at the home.

A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 8400 Poole Rd, Knightdale, NC 27545. Burial to follow at the church cemetery with reception immediately following in the fellowship hall. The family wants to express appreciation to caregivers: Doris Bass and Lori Johnson for the loving care and compassion given to Warren and the family during his illness.
