Elder George E. Kelly departed this life January 16, 2019 after a brief illness. He was born on February 8, 1925 in Bishopville, SC. George entered the U.S. Army and served in World War II.

He was an elevator technician for the U.S. Court system in New York City until his retirement in 1975. He met his future wife Mary E. Adams in New York City where they married in 1949 and produced three children (Donna and Ernest Kelly and Sitrena Woodson) They returned to Virginia settling in Henrico County in 1980. George believed in community and family.

He was a Cub Scout Leader and church Elder in New York. George was an Elder at First United Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia and until his death, a dedicated tither. George loved gardening both flowers and vegetables.

He had a gift with raising Roses. George was an avid deep-sea fisherman enjoying trips to Montauk Bay in New York and fishing with his nephew Randy Adams here in Virginia. He loved a good barbeque and being with his family and friends.

George and Mary were married for 55 years before she passed in March of 2005. He leaves to mourn his three children, Donna and Ernest Kelly and Sitrena Woodson; grandchildren, Tiffany Woodson, Jordan Kelly and Victoria Kelly; the wind beneath his wings, his great granddaughter, Autumn; and a host of nieces and nephews (devoted Lorraine Moten, Dr. Randy Adams, Thelma Wade, and Virla Hill). He was recently cared for by the dedicated staff of Henrico Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sandston, VA.
