Gerald’s Obituary Gerald L. Bond, age 72, of Columbus, Nebraska, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at Columbus Care and Rehab. A memorial service honoring Gerald’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 25th, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus. The family will receive friends Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

A private family burial will be held at a later date in Pleasant Dale, NE. Memorials may be directed to the Milford Public Schools Fine Arts Program, Parkinson’s Support Group at the Columbus Community Hospital, or Nebraska Game and Parks. Gerald L. Bond was born August 21, 1946 in Hastings, Nebraska to Raymond and Violet (Sydow) Bond.

He graduated from Hastings High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Kearney State College. Gerald went on to receive his Master’s Degree from Chadron State College. He served in the National Guard from 1966 – 1971.

On March 5, 1966 Gerald was united in marriage to Joan K. Stephens in Diagonal, Iowa. Gerald taught in Petersburg and Lewellen and served as a Secondary Principal in Polk, Franklin and Milford, Nebraska. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus.

Gerald was a dedicated lifelong educator who enjoyed fishing, coin collecting, stamp collecting and antiques. He is survived by: Wife: Joan Bond of Columbus, NE Son: Brent (Mary) Bond of Columbus, NE Son: Eric (Heidi) Bond of Hickman, NE Grandchildren: Grant Bond, Joe (Monica) Jasper, Bailey Bond, Jake Jasper, Gage Bond, Hunter Bond and Sierra Bond.
