Ted’s Obituary Ted A. Micek, age 95, died Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2019 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Visitation is 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home.

Visitation will continue Friday morning from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial is in the All Saints Cemetery with military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Ted A. Micek was born July 17, 1923 in Fullerton, Nebraska to Alvin and Hedwig (Jarecki) Micek.

He graduated from Duncan High School in 1941. Ted served in the U.S. Army/Air Force during WWII from April 1943 – October 1945. He was stationed in Colorado Springs for training until he was sent overseas, where he flew in 35 missions over Europe and Germany.

He was very proud to serve his country. On October 7, 1952 Ted married the love of his life, Theresa Swantek at St. Mary’s – Pilsno. The couple lived and farmed west of Duncan for several years before moving north of Columbus.

In 1962 they moved to a farm southeast of Fullerton, where Ted farmed until they moved to Columbus in the early 1980’s. Ted worked at WalMart until retiring at the age of 75. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church and Hartman Post #84 American Legion.

Ted was a big sports fan and enjoyed watching and talking with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids about their sporting events and all Huskers sports. He enjoyed watching football, basketball, volleyball, baseball and almost any sporting event. Ted and Theresa were married for 65 years and enjoyed family, friends, bingo, playing cards, traveling and being together.

He truly loved his family and was a devoted, husband, a great father, grandpa, great-grandpa, great great-grandpa and true friend to many.
