Geraldine B. “Gerrie” (Hunt) Wells, 89, died Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Wesleyan Health Care where she had been a resident for several years. Gerrie had formerly lived in Fairmount. Gerrie was born on July 30, 1929 daughter of the late Virgil Hunt and Kathryn (Coates) Marks.

Gerrie married Joseph L. Wells Sr. on August 26, 1960 in Amboy, Indiana. Joe preceded her in death on March 1, 2015. Gerrie retired from Marion General Hospital after 17 years where she worked in housekeeping.

She was the queen of garage sales, loved gardening and flowers, bowled a 300 game, enjoyed fishing and was a self taught piano player. Gerrie is survived by four daughters; Roberta (Jim) Hiatt, Summitville, Rose (Paul) Stairs, Tool, TX, Susan (Randy) Smith and Sandy Wells both of Marion; three sons; Joseph (Michelle) Wells, Marion, Steve (Sarah) Hunt, Payne Springs, TX, and Mark (Joyce) Wells, Marion; sister, Evelyn Etty, Apopka, FL; brothers, Wayne Hunt, Marion and Gary Hunt, AZ; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Along with her parents and husband, Gerrie was also preceded in death by daughter, Linda O’Banion, grandson, Jimmy Hiatt, great-grandson, Colton D. Staggs, and brother, Dale Hunt.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 27, from 3-7 PM. Funeral service will be on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 1 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Perry Meade officiating. Interment will be at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.

Memorial contributions may be made to the activities department at Wesleyan Health Care in care of the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be shared at www. armeshuntfuneralhome.com.
