Obituary for Gerard M. “Jerry” Krahe Gerard “Jerry” Matthew Krahe, 60, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday September 11, 2018 at his residence following a courageous one and a half year battle with cancer. He was born in Erie on August 16, 1958 a son of the late Donald and Mary Mattis Krahe. Jerry was a 1977 graduate of McDowell High School and went on to graduate from Erie Co. Vo-Tech.
He worked for Larry Meyers repairing snowmobiles and other various machines and went on to own Krugs Shoe Store in the late 90’s. Most recently he worked for Miller Brothers as a small engine repairman. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a life member of the North American Hunting Club and the Siebenbuerger Club.
He enjoyed hunting, Nascar, classic cars, dirt bikes, the oldies, and working on mowers and snow blowers, He especially loved spending time with his family and his two dogs, Tequila and Brooke. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce Krahe and Daniel Krahe, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Jane Patterson Krahe; two daughters, Jennifer Kuhn and her husband, Nick, and Julie Krahe, all of Erie; one son, Gerard Krahe, Jr. and his fiancé, Sarah Nielsen, of Erie; his first grandchild due to be born September 28, 2018; two brothers, Eugene Krahe and his wife, Karen, and Donald Krahe, II and his wife, Sheila, all of Erie; one sister in law, Sharon Krahe of Erie; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends including, Norm Snider, Jeff Groenendaal, and Jim Kowalski. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc, 5000 Wattsburg Rd.
, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m.. Burial will follow in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 W. 12th St., Erie, 16505 or Great Lakes Home Healthcare and Hospice, 1700 Peach St., Erie, 16501.
