Gertrude P. Knueven Leipsic – Gertrude P. Knueven, 95, of Leipsic, died peacefully surrounded by family on June 8, 2018 at the Meadows of Leipsic. She was born September 2, 1922 in Glandorf to the late Charles and Margaret (Kerner) Meyer. On February 14, 1942, she married Louis Knueven and he died April 4, 1997.

Surviving are nine children: Fr. Jerry Knueven of Perrysburg, Mary Lou (Denny) Wilwerding of Littleton, CO. , Sister Kathleen Knueven, SND and Pat (Ken) Yeager all of Toledo, Bob (Ronnie) Knueven of Littleton, CO.

, Jim (Jo’Dell) Knueven of Leipsic, Joe (Marian) Knueven of Brownsburg, IN. , Barb (Jim) Hankenhof of Toledo and Mike (Pam) Knueven of Deshler; 22 Grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Her Catholic Faith was fundamental in her life, and she passed this gift on to her family in her many caring and giving ways.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Rita Niese and Cecilia Hermiller and three brothers: Urban Meyer, Cletus Meyer and Norbert Meyer. Gertrude was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her life.

She was a homemaker who loved the outdoors. She enjoyed farming, gardening, canning, polka and square dancing, her flowers, playing euchre and traveling especially to visit family as well as sites in the U.S. and world. She won many awards for her accomplishments as a World Book Encyclopedia Salesperson.

She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic, where she was the founder and chairperson of the Friendly Visitor Committee and Senior Citizen Card Party for over 40 years. She was member of the Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia where she was a past officer. She also was a Communion Distributor, Greeter and a member of the Funeral Choir.

She volunteered at the Meadows in Leipsic and Glandorf and Putnam Acres. She served generously as a member of the Toledo Diocesan Council of Catholic Women for over 39 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic, with Fr.

Jerry Knueven officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, next to her loving husband, Louis. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 11, 2018 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic, where there will be Scripture at 1:45 p.m. and a Rosary with the Altar Rosary Society at 7:45 p.m.; also 10:00 till 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame, Josephinum Seminary; St. Mary’s Parish or Putnam County Hospice. Condolences may be expressed at: www. lovefuneralhome.com.
