Gladys King Hardin, 98, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, May 5, 2019 at her home. She was born in Washington County, and was the daughter of the late William and Sally Nave King. In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Hardin, sons: Richard Hardin, and Wayne Hardin; daughter, Doris Ann Draper, sisters: Ruby Miller, Kathlyn Arwood, and Pauline Neal; brothers: Elmer, Wilbur, Weldon, and Paul King.

Those left to cherish Gladys’ memory include her daughter, Dorothy Whiston, sisters: Sarah McElyea, Betty Plank, and Mary Lee Nordblum; brother, Junior King, 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, special friends: Betty Humphreys, and Ruth Saults. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of Amedysis Hospice especially Chaplain Karl Gasser, Dr. Dana Allen and her staff, and grandsons, Chris and Jeff Draper for the loving care provided to Gladys. The family will gather to share memories with friends on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City.

A Celebration of Gladys’ life will follow with Pastor Ken Hauser officiating. Musical selections will be provided by Rick Sweeney. A Graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday at Mountain Home National Cemetery.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:20 pm. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be sent to Fellowship Community Church 430 E. 4th Avenue, Watauga, TN 37694.
