Obituary for Gladys Marie Ison (Roark) Gladys Marie Roark Ison 1925-2018 Gladys Ison, 93, of Grayson, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018 at her residence. She was born September 28, 1925 in Olive Hill, Kentucky; a daughter of the late Jarvey Lee and Carrie Kiser Roark. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ison and a sister, Eula Estep.
Gladys was a member of the Pactolus United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. She graduated high school in Olive Hill, Kentucky and received a teaching degree from Morehead State University. After college she was a fifth grade teacher in several elementary schools in Carter and Greenup counties .
She is survived by two sons, Bobby Ison and Barry Ison both of Grayson, Kentucky; two brothers, David Roark and Sonny Mose Roark both of Grayson, Kentucky; four sisters, Pauline Harris of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Shelby Blanton of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Donna Coleman of South Bend, Missouri and Naomi Richardson of Sinclair, Missouri; two grandchildren, Bethany Crum of Ohio, and Derrick Ison of Grayson, Kentucky; two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, Tom Riffe, minister. Burial will follow in the Bentley Cemetery, on Carter Caves Road near Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 6:00 p. m. to 9:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a. m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
