Golden J Waite, “Goldie” “Coke”, went home to his Loving Heavenly Father July 26, 2018. He was born August 2, 1929 in Syracuse, Utah to Victor and Blanche Smith Waite. Golden graduated from Davis High School.

He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On August 20, 1952, he married Shirma Hodgson in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 65 happy years together.

Golden was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of-Latter Day Saints. He served a 2 ½ year mission in Argentina. He held various callings, was a very dedicated and much loved home teacher.

He was a licensed barber and worked at Smitty’s Shearing Shed with his brother Vic. He was also employed at Hill Air Force Base as base housing manager, Davis County Schools as a bus driver and dairy farmer. He loved serving friends and neighbors, keeping their gardens tilled and driveways free from snow with his prized John Deere tractor.

Goldie was an avid farmer, horse trainer and bee keeper. He was a member of the Beehive Cutter Racing Association and rode with the Davis County Sherriff’s Mounted Posse. Golden loved his family very much and is survived by his wife, Shirma: his sons, Layne (Karina) Waite, David Waite; daughter, Julie Waite (Bill) Hurd, 8 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Victor Smith and Gary: 2 sisters, Nelda and Norma. The Family would like to thank Legacy Hospice especially to Korie and Sara for their loving care. Services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Huckleberry Ward, 1285 South 2500 West Syracuse, Utah.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 6-8:00 PM at Myers Mortuary 5865 S 1900 W Roy, Utah and prior to the services at the church 9:30-10:30 AM. Interment in the Syracuse City Cemetery. Send condolences to the family at www.
