Obituary for Frank Clifton Rypien Frank C. Rypien (67) passed away in the early morning of Mother’s Day May 13, 2018 in Layton, UT, four years after being diagnosed with cancer, Frank died as he wished to–at home. Cancer may have taken his body in the end, but it never conquered his fighting spirit. Frank Rypien was born on February 5, 1951.

After receiving his GED, he joined the Navy. He served on both the USS Enterprise and the USS Constellation. He married Tracy Vance on November 9, 1974.

They were married for 22 years. After his time in the Navy, Frank worked as a machinist by trade. He loved his work.

Even after being diagnosed with cancer, he continued to work for another 2 years. He also loved fixing things and could fix just about anything. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, model airplanes, camping, hunting, fishing, and cars.

He was also a great collector of treasures. He is survived by his daughter Rachelle (Michael) Walker and his son Harley (Gerri) Rypien. He is also survived by his wonderful mother Shirley Rypien and his siblings: Susan Rypien, Joy (Michael) Anderson, and Michael Rypien.

Frank had four grandchildren that he was very proud of: Ethan Walker, Nikki Rypien, Addison Walker and Emmerson Walker. Services will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 at 11:00a.m. at the North Park Ward LDS Chapel, 202 W. 1675 N. in Layton UT. Viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30a.m. prior to the funeral services.

Interment will follow at the Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd in Ogden, Utah where Military Honors will be accorded. Harley and Rachelle would like to thank all those that helped to care for Dad in the last few years. Thank you to Joy and Mike Anderson for their care and service.

Thank you to Grandma Rypien for attending each and every medical appointment. Thank you to Angelique Brown for making his final wishes a reality. Finally, thank you to the Huntsman Cancer Center and their staff who provided Dad with such wonderful care.
