Melvin Boyd Spackman December 13, 1935 ~ July 20, 2018 The summon has been answered for Melvin Boyd Spackman who passed away on July 20, 2018 in Prescott, Arizona due to natural conditions related to age, where he returned to Heavenly Father and family. Boyd – preferred first name – was born December 13, 1935 in Logan, Cache County, Utah at the Logan LDS Hospital to Ether Spackman and Asenth LeVern Potter where he was greeted by a sister and a brother. He was reared in Lewiston, Utah and Preston, Idaho on a farm where life traits were developed to form a firm foundation in life along with his religious convictions.

He attended the local schools of residence where he met his first love, Norma Marie Kofoed, while attending Preston High School. Noma and Boyd were married in Kingman, Arizona on December 2, 1956 after his service in the Army. This family was blessed with four children; Randy Boyd Spackman, Huson, Montana, Travis Kofoed Spackman (Doreen), Highland, Utah, Cynthia Spackman Broderick, Prescott, Arizona, and Janice Spackman Luken (Robert), Prescott, Arizona.

They were reared in the North Ogden, Weber, Utah area. Boyd taught each child both religious and family moral values. Some of these family traits that were taught are: being responsible to duty, an honest day’s work, honesty to fellowman, and rendering service unto those that needed help.

Boyd believed in the motto “Be true to the name you bear and what it stands for”. He did establish this in his children. Boyd and Norma would re-establish this meaning by having annual family reunions to better unite this foundation.

Boyd worked for Mountain Bell as a service technician until he retired. His service in the Ogden area brought many opportunities for him and his family along with many friends at work and in the community. He was recognized for being a dedicated worker for the company.

Both he and Norma also enjoyed holiday activities by wearing costumes to fit the occasion even through Boyd would not fully enjoy all activities. A call was given to each Boyd and Norma to service on a Family Search Mission in Salt Lake City at the Joseph Smith research center to assist and research family names for genealogy purposes where the served for two years doing this work. After this calling, he devoted his efforts doing family genealogy, researching, editing data, along with submitting his work into family search and the temple.

Boyd eventually met Bonnie Lee Riley where in time he took his hand in hers and the were married in Ogden, Utah, on May 8, 2002. This marriage was an added blessing in his life for it renewed his purpose in having another family. Both enjoyed one another and had many experiences that strengthen each other to a more dedicated purpose in life as it related to family responsibilities.

His passion in life was to enjoy it to the fullest extent. This was accomplished thru family activities as well as the hobby of building model remote airplanes and cars, along with 4 wheeling. The joyful accomplishments could be seen in the smile on his face.

He has been active to the personal callings where he served in various church positions, including a counselor in the bishopric and a ordinance worker in the temple. He did as much work as he could along with researching ancestors that needed temple work. Boyd is survived by one sister, Nona Hott, Utah, along with his four children from his first marriage and grandchildren.
