Brandon Brent Larsen was born September 11th, 1971 to Brent R. Larsen and Aileen Coates in Brigham City, Utah. Brandon was tragically taken from our lives on July 11th, 2018 on Willard Bay when he drowned while paddle boarding. After Brent and Aileen divorced, Brandon would become the oldest of six children between two families.

Brandon attended Box Elder High School, where he met his lifelong best friend Scotty P. Brandon graduated from Box Elder in 1989 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, stationed first in Vandenberg, CA and then in Saudi Arabia, during Operation Desert Storm. After his tour of duty, Brandon was honorably discharged and returned to Utah to pursue his dream of making music. Brandon met Debbie Pence in 1998 while working as a paralegal and they were married the following year.

Brandon thrived in his role as a father to Debbie’s son T.J. (Hicks) and was eager to add to their family. Brandon and Debbie lost one child at birth, Zoey, in 2001. In 2002 they welcomed Jerith, named for David Bowie’s Goblin King, and in 2004 Haylen was born, named for one of Brandon’s favorite bands, Van Halen.

Brandon would go on to earn two bachelor’s degrees, a master’s degree, and began his career in teaching in 2006. Brandon and Debbie would later divorce but remained close friends. Brandon taught business classes at Sand Ridge Junior High School in Roy for ten years, and then transferred to Weber Innovation High School in 2016 where he taught business and computer programming.

Brandon was a beloved teacher to many students throughout his tenure. His classroom was often described as a safe haven for students. Brandon was passionate about many things; his family, music, teaching, being outdoors, sports, especially soccer and Crossfit.

His easy-going personality and sense of humor will be missed by so many people from so many different walks of life. Brandon is survived by his children: T.J. Hicks, Jerith and Haylen Larsen, his father Brent R. Larsen and stepmother Nedra, his sisters: Jamie Judy (Michael Judy), Amanda and Aimee Lish, Linette Larsen (Nathan Young) and brother, Mark Larsen (Hali Larsen), his stepfather, Ken Lish, multiple nieces and nephews, and other extended family members. Brandon is preceded in death by his daughter, Zoey Aileen Larsen, his aunt Janlyn Coates Christensen, and his mother, Aileen Coates Lish.
