James Irwin Nowell Plain City – James I. Nowell, 80, passed away on July 6, 2018. He was born on October 24, 1937 in East Orange, Es, New Jersey to Reynolds Irwin and Hannah Cannell Nowell. James married Terrel Maree Plotts on December 18, 1961 in the Logan LDS Temple.

He received his Bachelor’s degree from BYU in Engineering. He owned many businesses throughout his life and did construction to utilize his engineering degree. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, James served an LDS mission in the Texas, El Paso mission.

He served as a Branch Pres. and in multiple Bishopric’s and as a High Counselor. He also served as a worker in the Ogden Temple for 6 years.

He enjoyed model trains and woodworking. James is survived by his children, Jennifer (Eric) Wilson, Pamela (Paul) Fowler, Eldon (Wanda) Nowell and Mark Reynolds (Kendria) Nowell; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy Olsen, Patricia Tanner. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Shauna Reidhead and his wife of 55 years, Terrel.

Funeral services will be held at the Plain City 2nd Ward, 2952 No. 4200 W., on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. Viewings will be held at the church on Tuesday, July 10th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday prior to the service from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Interment in the Willard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested contributions be made to the missionary fund of the LDS Church.
