She was born January 8, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the youngest daughter of Virgil Emil Rousselle, and Dott Irene Utley Rousselle. She grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School.

Karen worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield as an insurance adjudicator for many years. She was strong-willed, opinionated, loving, and very honest. Karen married Samuel Richardson on August 13, 1970, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Together they raised two children, Bruce and Jeni. They were later divorced. She married Ronald B. Paxton in Salt Lake City on November 19, 1993.

Karen loved to dance, was a great reader, and loved old and new movies, especially good love stories. She enjoyed playing various games and was always a fierce competitor. Before arthritis affected her hands, she liked to crochet.

She made and gave away many beautiful afghans and Christmas stockings. Karen also enjoyed going to lunch or dinner with her friends. Karen suffered from many health issues in her life.

She was a wonderful example of perseverance in the face of adversity as she met each challenge with great courage, determination, faith, and with very little complaint.
