Paul Blaine Rice April 23, 1947- September 17, 2018 Paul Blaine Rice, 71, passed suddenly, but peacefully. (We suspect he couldn’t wait any longer to be reunited with his son. ) He was born in Ogden Utah to his parents Leo Blaine Rice, and Lou Jean Swan Findlay.

Paul’s parents were remarried. His mom married Blair Findlay who had 3 sons and 1 daughter; Jimmy, Doug, Gordon, Carolann, and then they had 2 girls, Leslie Ann and Teresa. Paul’s dad married Marion, she had 1 son, Danny Hutchinson and they had 4 children together Kevin, Lorrie, Denise and Angela.

Paul’s pride and joy has always been his loving family. He met his wife, Patricia Tribe, when he was 18, before going off to basic training. Lucky for him, Pat was enamored by a man in uniform.

After dating, and a relationship through the mail, they were reunited and married on September 27th 1968 and then sealed for time and all eternity on April 25, 1975 in the Salt Lake Temple. Paul joined the U.S. Army reserves in September 1965. After marrying the love of his life, he started a 30-year career at JetWay.

He retired and worked for his family business, Intermountain Pest Control. He then retired fully to completely immerse himself in his family, fishing, golfing, gardening, music, and of course Jazz games. Pat and Paul had four devoted children: Brandon, Brian, Christa, and Celeste.

He raised his children humbly, but with most abundant love. He supported the boys in Scouting, missions, and hunting and sporting adventures. He cherished his girls and supported them in their interests of art, choir, basketball, and other accomplishments.

Not only did he fully support them, he also taught them how to work hard, play hard, and love hard. As with his children, his grandchildren were his greatest treasures. He was always attending baseball, soccer, and basketball games, band, choir concerts, family dinners, family home evenings and of course extravagant family Christmas parties.

If you were lucky enough to spend the night, you would have been served the most heavenly omelet imaginable. Paul was also a master behind the grill. He loved to serve his family physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Paul was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He happily served in various church callings, including Scouting, bishoprics, and home teaching. He was currently serving as a service missionary with his dear wife at the Ogden Home Storage Center.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia Tribe Rice; mother, LouJean Findlay; children: Brian Rice (Angie), Christa Watt (Bryce), Celeste Rice, and daughter-in-law, Melinda Sheridan (Russ); 12 grandchildren: Gage, Grayden, Brant, Bridger, Tyler, Zachary, Savanna, Bransen, Carsen, Brooke, Kaden, and Ivee. He is preceded in death by his son, Brandon Rice; father, Leo Blaine Rice; stepmother, Marion Rice; stepfather, Blair Findlay. The Rice family would like to give special thanks to Detective Brad Nelson, and Detective Virgil Hutton for being so attentive and tender to our “Pat” during this difficult time.
