M. LaVar Williams April 20, 1931 – Sept. 22, 2018 Our loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, LaVar Williams, passed away peacefully and reunited with his Sweetheart Joyce, on Sept. 22, 2018 at his home with loving family surrounding him, at the age of 87.

He was born on April 20, 1931 in Ogden, Utah, the youngest of seven children, to Robert and Blanch Taylor Williams. He served in the Army and was stationed in Korea during the war. After he returned home he met and married his Eternal Sweetheart Joyce Fowler on June 16, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

They spent 58 wonderful years together. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church, where he served as bishop in the Ogden 3rd Ward. He worked for Bush Market, delivered for Family Bread and Dokos Candy Company.

He owned and operated J&L Grocery store, worked for the LDS Church for 23 years. Dad enjoyed playing football for Mound Fort Jr. High and Ogden High School, hunting, fishing, camping, Bear Lake trips, gardening and being a jokester to everyone he met. The best thing dad loved was spending time with his family whether it be at home or outside activities.

He is survived by his 6 children, Debra (John) Jensen, Denise (Steve) Mark, Sheri (Mick) Holmes, Jan (Shane) Farnsworth, Curtis (Celeste) Williams, Shauna (Ty deceased) Batchelor; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; son-in-law; and 2 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank South Davis Hospice for their care and love for our dad the past year.

Especially Melissa, Cameron, and Chaplain Olsen. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Ogden 3rd Ward, 373 15th Street. A viewing will be held at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd.

, on Sunday, Sept. 30th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the church from 9:40 to 10:40 a.m. Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please donate to the missionary fund or your favorite charity.
