Thayne Edward Knight, 86, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away at Vi at Silverstone (Memory Care) on June 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 27, 1931 in Ogden, Utah to Horace Alonzo and Mary McFarland Knight. He was the 5th of seven children.

He grew up and lived in Plain City, Utah until 1987. He attended school in Plain City and graduated from Weber High School in 1949. He married Cherrill Palmer on May 25, 1951 in the LDS Logan Temple.

They have been married for 67 years. They were blessed with 4 sons, Keith, Kevin, Lynn and Larry, 12 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Thayne loved his family and worked very hard to provide them with their needs.

His philosophy was if you work hard everything would come together and that is how he lived his life. He loved boating and water skiing, though nothing compared to being with his grandchildren. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1987 to be closer to his Sons.

He loved working with his sons and loved working at Knight Transportation. He was at Knight from the beginning doing anything he saw that was needed. The only thing that would pull him away from work was his grandchildren and their trips to Utah every summer.

His legacy lives on within Knight and our family. He is survived by his wife, his four sons and their families and one brother Blake. The family would like to thank the Vi at Silverstone staff as well as Warren Arquisola for his care and compassion shown to Dad.

Services will be held at the Plain City LDS 4th Ward Church, 2235 N. 4350 W., Plain City, Utah on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11:00am with a viewing prior from 9:00 to 10:45am. Interment will be in the Plain City Cemetery, 4373 W. 1975 N., Plain City, Utah. A luncheon will follow at the Plain City LDS 4th Ward Church after burial.
